Miss Jessie Mabel Fiege
Traced the 'Growth of the English Language'. She began with the Anglo-Saxon race and told of the various changes that had been wrought in the language by conquest; of the advantages of the coming of the printing press, and of what changes social life and invention had made. Miss Fiege showed how, that as soon as needed new words were adopted. She spoke of the wonderful manner in which the English language had spread; how that from the British Isles this language had gone out to five-eights of the inhabitants of the globe.
