'STAMFORD, Vt. -- Mary Ellen Slade, 66, of 86 Mill Road died Sunday at North Adams (Mass.) Regional Hospital, where she was admitted Dec. 25 following a long illness.

Born in Gardner, Maine, on April 14, 1937, a daughter of Frank Juan Chavarry Sr. and Jeannette Dorothy Pushard Chavarry, she moved with her family to North Adams in 1942 and graduated in 1955 from Drury High School, where she had participated in the senior play and operetta.

Mrs. Slade was an accountant with Silber, Kushi and Myers Accounting in North Adams for 37 years, retiring in 1998. She also was associated with the late Russell Lanoue as an accountant with the former Mail-Me-Monday accounting firm, and had worked at the former White Laundry, both in North Adams
