Ralph Walter Cook, Sr. 'Pa'
Ralph was born on December 10, 1896, at his grandfather's house, Samuel, at 601 East Central St., Franklin, MA. His parents were living there at the time. He was the oldest son of Walter and Caroline Cook. He was a Congregationalist, however, he rarely attended church. He had a brother Colin Kendall and a sister Eva Mae (Cook) Braun. They were all raised on the farm at 664 East Central Street.
On July 10, 1920, Ralph, Sr. married Hazel May Washburn from North Attleboro, MA. and brought her to live in the farm house owned by his father, Walter. Hazel was the daughter of Edwin Washburn and Mary Cameron. She was born in South Attleboro, MA. They lived down stairs and Walter and Caroline lived upstairs. At this time the house had running water, an old cast iron sink, which was cracked, and a telephone. The house was still heated by wood and wood was used to cook with. He say she as been ? and slightly burned while in action, in April, but has received and is in good health. The letter was written May 12.
