Biography
Clara Barton was a remarkable woman who made significant contributions to the field of nursing and humanitarian work. Born on December 25, 1821, in Oxford, Massachusetts, she was the youngest of five children. From an early age, Clara displayed a strong sense of compassion and a desire to help others.

As a young girl, Barton's curiosity led her to explore various fields of study, including writing and languages. Her education was diverse, and she excelled in many subjects. However, her true calling emerged when she began to care for her brother, David, after a severe injury. This experience ignited her interest in nursing and caregiving.

In 1852, Barton moved to Washington, D.C., where she worked as a clerk in the Patent Office. She was one of the first women to hold such a position in the federal government. Her dedication and efficiency earned her the respect of her colleagues. However, her career in the government came to an abrupt end when the political landscape shifted,...Read MORE...
