Biography
William Moulton, m. July 12, 1870, Mary Ophelia, daughter of Levi Johnson of Quincy, Ill. Lives on his father's farm in Scarborough. Was for some years a school teacher. Has been a member of the S. S. Com., Town Treasurer and Town Clerk. Member of the State Legislature from Scarborough in 1874 and 1875. Is a Justice of the Peace, Land Surveyor and an active business man.

1881 - July 2 - James A. Garfield was shot at the Baltimore and Potomac Railroad Station in Washington, D.C., at 9:30 am on Saturday, July 2, 1881. He died in Elberon, New Jersey, two months later on September 19, 1881. The shooting occurred less than four months into his term as president. Charles J. Guiteau was convicted of Garfield's murder and executed by hanging one year after the shooting. Chester Arthur becomes President of the United States.
