What started out as our family is now your’s too!

Anna R KORCH was born 5 July 1891 in East Lyme, Connecticut, USA

Anna R KORCH was the child of Andrew (András) KORCH (KOVALČÍK)   and   Elizabeth (Alzbeta) (Erzsébet) TOMKO and the grandchild of: (paternal)  András KOVALYCIK and Borka (Borbala) STRYCIKO (SZTRICSKO) (maternal)  George (György) TOMKO and Anna PASICSÁK (PASITSÁK)

Spouse(s)/Partner(s) and Child(ren):

Anna R  married  Willard S FEIGE 22 May 1907 in Webster, Massachusetts, USA .  The couple had (at least) 7 children. Willard S FEIGE  was born 28 July 1888 in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, USA (Coltsville).  Willard S died 18 January 1929 in Webster, Massachusetts, USA.  Willard S was the child of George Wilhelm FEIGE and Charlotte Marie SALISBURY.

Anna R  married  (2) Herbert Stowell WOLFE abt. 1951 .  Herbert Stowell WOLFE  was born 26 January 1902 in Auburn, Massachusetts, USA (Ward).  Herbert Stowell died 4 February 1955 in Grafton, Massachusetts, USA (Saundersville) (Fisherville).  Herbert Stowell was the child of Walter Edgar WOLFE and Effie Maude EAGER.

Anna R KORCH died 28 October 1971 in Dudley, Massachusetts, USA.

(s) Would like to find her birth record.

Anna Korch was the daughter of Slovakian immigrants Andro (Andrew) Kovalcik and Albeta (Elizabeth) Tomko. Anna was born July 5, 1891 in East Lyme, Connecticut. By 1900, the family had moved to Thompson, Connecticut. At the time of their marriage, Anna, age 17, worked in a mill and Willard was an electrician. The young couple made their home in Thompson, Connecticut, just over the Massachusetts border. Willard worked in Webster, Massachusetts, as an electrician for his cousin Charles W. Bergmann, who owned a shop on Main Street. Around 1916, Willard, Anna and children moved to Webster. Sometime during the 1920s, Willard suffered a stroke and was unable to perform electrical work with the same level of ability he had prior to the stroke.

After Willard's death, Anna was left with seven children. She worked in Webster in a woolen mill. Eventually, she remarried. Her second husband was named Herb Wolfe. I have no idea when or where they were married. I have no memory of ever seeing him. True to the family heritage, Anna owned a beautiful cuckoo clock. Any time we visited, she would stand next to the clock for nearly an eternity making the cuckoo chirp. I don’t know much about her personality, other than the fact that she always seemed happy and treated us very well. I have a strong mental picture of her as well as a visual memory of the rooms and furniture layout of her house in Dudley. She died in 1971. She was 80 years old.

Rocky Neck State Park, East Lyme, Conn.

Located on Long Island Sound in the town of East Lyme, 710-acre Rocky Neck is a popular recreation spot. The public now enjoys use of the park because of a few farsighted conservationists who secured the land in 1931, using their personal funds until the State Legislature authorized its purchase. stateparks.com

Invention The microwave oven was invented accidentally in 1945 by Percy Spencer, a Raytheon engineer. While testing a magnetron, he noticed microwaves melted a candy bar in his pocket. Experimenting further, he discovered microwaves could cook food quickly. Raytheon patented the process, and by 1947, they built the first commercial microwave oven, called the 'Radarange.' Initially used in commercial settings, microwaves becomes affordable for home use by the 1960s and 1970s, revolutionizing cooking.

News1962 - The Cuban Missile Crisis was a tense 13-day standoff in October 1962 between the United States and the Soviet Union over the installation of Soviet nuclear missiles in Cuba, just 90 miles from the U.S. coast. The crisis is considered the closest the Cold War came to escalating into a full-scale nuclear war. It began when American spy planes discovered the missiles, leading to a U.S. naval blockade of Cuba and intense negotiations. The crisis ended when Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev agreed to remove the missiles in exchange for the U.S. promising not to invade Cuba and secretly agreeing to remove American missiles from Turkey.
