FEIGE Family Tree

What started out as our family is now your’s too!

Evelyn Pearl FEIGE was born 4 March 1912 in Thompson, Connecticut, USA

Evelyn Pearl FEIGE was the child of Willard S FEIGE   and   Anna R KORCH and the grandchild of: (paternal)  George Wilhelm FEIGE and Charlotte Marie SALISBURY (maternal)  Andrew (András) KORCH (KOVALČÍK) and Elizabeth (Alzbeta) (Erzsébet) TOMKO

Spouse(s)/Partner(s) and Child(ren):

Evelyn Pearl  married  Leo George BAKER 10 January 1932 in Southbridge, Massachusetts, USA .  The couple had (at least) 3 children. Leo George BAKER  was born 24 December 1911 in Southbridge, Massachusetts, USA (Globe) (Lensdale) (Saundersdale) (Shuttleville).  Leo George died 28 July 1993 in Southbridge, Massachusetts, USA (Globe) (Lensdale) (Saundersdale) (Shuttleville).  Leo George was the child of Reuben BAKER and Marie Albina Clarinda RENAUD.

Evelyn Pearl FEIGE died 18 October 1981 in Worcester, Massachusetts, USA.

Likes: Tea, Purgatory Chasm, reading, cleaning?, white chocolate

Dislikes: Touching feathers, eggs

Evelyn lived in Southbridge since her marriage to Leo in 1932. She was born in nearby Thompson, Connecticut in 1912 and was raised in Webster, Massachusetts, graduating from Bartlett High School in 1930. Leo used to ride the train from Southbridge to Webster to court her. She was a strong, determined woman with a wonderful, soft side. I spent as much of my childhood in her company as time would allow. She often would speak of our heritage and I remember very well the numerous times she would tell me that I am “German, English, Slavic, Irish and French”. The German, English and Slavic came from her side of the family. The Irish and French came from my grandfather, Leo. Evelyn would tell stories of how her family came from Prussia. That always fascinated me because there was no Prussia on the modern-day map. It was as if she was telling me that these things should matter to me; yet, I was too young to give them the full attention they deserved. Now, I laugh when I discover something “new” that she already told me long ago. She was a wise woman, but the timing was all wrong. How I wish I could talk to her now…

She was cremated. Her ashes were scattered in the far left corner (from the road) of St. George’s cemetery on Paige Hill in Southbridge, Massachusetts.

Feige Name Meaning
German: variant of Feig German: topographic name for someone who lived by a fig tree or metonymic occupational name for a grower or seller of figs from Middle High German vīge (Old High German fīga from Latin ficus). German: from Fey a short form of the personal name Sophia. Jewish (Ashkenazic): from the Yiddish female personal name Feyge a back-formation from Feygl (see Feigel ) as if this contained the diminutive suffix -l.

Invention 1940 - April - 1st electron microscope demonstrated (RCA), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
Invention The microwave oven was invented accidentally in 1945 by Percy Spencer, a Raytheon engineer. While testing a magnetron, he noticed microwaves melted a candy bar in his pocket. Experimenting further, he discovered microwaves could cook food quickly. Raytheon patented the process, and by 1947, they built the first commercial microwave oven, called the 'Radarange.' Initially used in commercial settings, microwaves becomes affordable for home use by the 1960s and 1970s, revolutionizing cooking.

News1962 - The Cuban Missile Crisis was a tense 13-day standoff in October 1962 between the United States and the Soviet Union over the installation of Soviet nuclear missiles in Cuba, just 90 miles from the U.S. coast. The crisis is considered the closest the Cold War came to escalating into a full-scale nuclear war. It began when American spy planes discovered the missiles, leading to a U.S. naval blockade of Cuba and intense negotiations. The crisis ended when Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev agreed to remove the missiles in exchange for the U.S. promising not to invade Cuba and secretly agreeing to remove American missiles from Turkey.
