Death at Lehigh of the Father of Lawence Knapp of Batavia
Adam Knapp died yesterday this home at Lehigh from the infirmities of age. He has been confined to the bid only a few days.
Mr. Knapp was born in Germany on May 8, 1829, and came to this country in 1848. He first located in Genesee county and then went to Wyoming, where he works at his trade, that of a blacksmith. at Cowlesville and Bennington. Twenty nine years go he moved to Lehigh, where he conducted a shop until a few years ago. In 1855 he married Miss Mary Setsel of Lancaster, who died in 1861. On May 30, 1869, he married Miss Catherine Desgranger of Cowlesville, who survives him with six sons and a daughter -- Adam Jr., of Java, John who is in the west, Lawrence of Batavia, Anthony of Corfu, Nicholas and Charles Knapp of Darien Center and Mrs. John Brennen of Buffalo. All the sons except Lawrence, who is a cigar maker, are blacksmiths, having learned the trade from their
