Pioneer of 1846 and Widow of River Captain is Dead.
Mrs. Sarah Salisbury Williams, widow of Captain Richard Williams, and an Oregon pioneer of 1846, died in this city yesterday. She was 79 years old and a native of Massachusetts. She crossed the plains when 5 years old.
Mrs. Williams was married in 1856 to Captain Richard Williams, on of the early river captains of Oregon. Their home was for many years on the site now occupied by the People's institute at Fourth and Burnside streets.
Mrs. Williams is survived by two daughters, Mrs. William M. Foote of New York and Miss Caroline Williams of Portland.
Funeral arrangements have not been made.
