"In 1671, the imposition of a fine on all young men 20 years of age or more who remained unmarried, was still in force...Francois, in the summer of 1671...made the acquaintance of the 20 year old Anne Guillaume...on the following 12 October, they met again at the home of Madame Bourdon in the presence of notary Roman Becquet, to put the final touches on their marriage contract...A week later, on a beautiful autumn Monday, 9 October 1671, the affianced couple went to the church of Notre-Dame de Quebec to have their marriage solemnized. Abbot Henri de Bernieres joined in the bonds of marriage Francois Dubois, son of Francois and of Claude Fayenne from Saint-Potan, canton of Matignon, diocese of Brieuc, to Anne Guillaume, daughter of Michel and of Germaine Ermolin, from Saint-Germain de Paris, Ile-de-France."
