Biography
Mary (called ' Polly'), b. abt. 1764; d. unm., in Prov., at home of
Edwin D. Lovett, Aug. 1, 1862, aet. 98 y. Tailoress. The will,
codicil, and administration of her estate are on file at Providence
Municipal Court. She gave $100 to Eliza [H.] Warner, and $200
to James Wheaton, her second cousin (a grandson of Ephraim
Wheaton and Anne Goff, named above), whom she made execu-
tor. He declined, and Sanford Durfee (named above) was apptd.
admr. with will annexed. By the terms of her will the balance of
her estate, amounting to $1312, was paid to the Charitable [or
First] Baptist Society, Providence, as a fund to be used for the
poor of that church. Her daguerreotype is possessed by Miss
Harriet N. Lovett (named above). She was a very energetic
woman, almost to the end of her long life, fond of music and danc-
ing, generous and social. Prob. interred in North Burial Ground,
