David French, 72, of Bath applied at the Lewiston police station last evening for a night's lodging. In a talk with Capt. O'Connell he said several men were following him with the intention of harming him. Capt. O'Connell talked with the Bath police and learned that proceedings to determine French's sanity were contemplated. French is to be held here for the Bath officers.
