'Death of an Old Citizen. DIED.-Wednesday, the 30th inst., at the residence of his son-in-law, Erastus Close, of Scipio, Mr. Humphrey Tallman, of this city, father of Mr. John K. Tallman, aged 87 years. The deceased was born in the town of Dartmouth, near New Bedford, in the State of Massachusetts, and came to this county in the year 1806, being then about 19 years of age. He settled in the town of Scipio, near what is now called Poplar Ridge, but afterward moved to the eastern part of the town, where he spent a greater part of his life. While at the former locality he married Miss Esther Van Aernam, who still survives him; the pair have lived happily together for nearly sixty-four years. Although he has several times received evidences of the partiality of his fellow townamen, both in a civil and military capacity, his walk has been distinguished for its quiet and unostentatious character.
