Sarah Ann  FURNESS

"My mother’s maiden name was Barnes. John B. Barnes was my grandfather, he is buried at Gore Cemetery in Rochdale-North Oxford line. He died when my mother was only 4 months old. My maternal grandmother Sarah (Furness) (came from England) remarried John Jaskoviac and they had two more children together Robert Jaskoviac, who fought in WW2 at the battle of the Bulge and later spent the rest of his life in a Veteran’s hospital due to PTS and Ella Jaskoviac, Ella married Joseph Mc Cullough and had two children, Sarah and Bruce.

My grandmother had two other children out of wedlock between her first husband Robert Barnes and John Jaskoviac (farmer’s helpers !!) those two daughters were Frances and Mary. Frances married (last name) Magnan who she divorced early in the marriage and had one son Russell, who died of cancer at about age 35, he was married and had two boys (don’t know their names other than last name which was Magnan).

Mary married James Nicholson and she had two boys, James and Brian, both deceased now as well as a still born daughter in 1943. She has one daughter, still alive living in Holyoke area, married no children, my first cousin, she will be here on Father’s Day.

Benjamin Barnes is John B. Barnes’ father, my Great grandfather."
