Biography
'Antoine Bourg from Martaizé near Loudun south of the Loire valley in France, born in c1609, was a young farmer when he came to Acadia as a bachelor probably aboard the St.-Jehan in 1636. Hired by either the sieur d'Aulnay or Isaac Razilly to clear land and perform other tasks for the colonial leadership, he was one of the colony's first settlers. In c1642, when he was in his early 30s, he married Antoinette, sister of fellow colonist René Landry l'aîné, at Port-Royal and settled into the life of a farmer. Antoine and Antoinette had 11 children. Their six daughters married into the Breau, Belliveau, Boudrot, Brun, Comeau l'aîné dit L'Esturgeon, and Allain families. Their five sons, born at Port-Royal, all created families of their own. Antoine died at Port-Royal between 1687 and 1693. Antoinette died not long afterwards.'
