Died Sept. 20, 1837 in Clarendon, Rutland county, Vt. was the son of Jephthia Hewitt and Mary York, of Stonington,Ct. he married twice, first to Mary Dunbar and second to Mary Jane Smith. according to the History of Rutland County,he had 20 children, but only 10 are known.By his first wife,Gideon,Jr.,Susanna, William, John, Jeptha,Eunice, David, Orra and Susan, by his second wife had Elias.
