Biography
Thomas Houghton, son of Thomas and Phebe (Gray) Houghton, was born at Williamstown, Massachusetts (place of birth not authenticated), December 2, 1763. He married (first) Susannah Crosby, born at Mason, New Hampshire, October 8, 1768, died at Anson, Maine, in June, 1805, daughter of Robert and Susannah Crosby.
Mr. Houghton married (second) March, 1806, Bridget (Spaulding) Heald, b. 1774, d. Apr. 5, 1861, widow of Ephraim Heald.
Children first wife:
1. Susannah, born January 27, 1790, at Stark, Maine, died March 6, 1833; married, in September, 1807, Samuel Dinsmore.
2.Sarah 'Sally', born December 4, 1791, at Stark, Maine, died November 16, 1836; married, July 16, 1812, Thomas Dinsmore.
3. Katherine H. 'Katy', born October 3, 1793, died July 23, 1869; married, November 5, 1812, Ephraim Heald, s/ o Ephraim Heald (1771-1803) & Bridget Spalding (1774-1861).
4. Patty, born April 7, 1796, at Anson, Maine, died December 30, 1876; married, September 10, 1815, Arthur Dinsmore.
