Joseph MARTEL was the child of Michel MARTEL   and   Marie Josephe (Josette) CAYA (CAILLA) and the grandchild of: (paternal)  Michel-Gabriel MARTEL and Geneviève-Catherine SENNEVILLE dite LEFEBVRE (maternal)  Joseph CAYA (CAILLA) and Marie-Anne TROTTIER dite BEAUBIEN

Joseph  married  Josette MANSEAU 20 September 1796 in Baie-du-Fèbvre, Lower Canada .  The couple had (at least) 4 children.
Josette MANSEAU  was born abt. 1780 in Québec Province, Canada (Quebec).  Josette died 17 February 1805 in Baie-du-Fèbvre, Québec, Canada (Saint-Antoine-de-la-Baie-du-Febvre).  Josette was the child of Jean-Baptiste MANSEAU and Therese LAFOND.

Joseph  married  (2) Josephte HOUDE (HOULE) 18 January 1808 in Baie-du-Fèbvre, Lower Canada .  The couple had (at least) 7 children.
Josephte HOUDE (HOULE)  was born abt. 1785 in Québec Province, Canada (Quebec).  Josephte was the child of Joseph HOUDE and Therese PROULX.

Joseph MARTEL died 3 April 1858 in Drummondville, Canada East .
