The history of Saint-Zéphirin begins on September 25, 1754. On that day, a seigniory constituted on these lands was granted to Louis-Pierre Poulin de Courval Cressé (1728-1764), who gave it its name.
1828 - Église de Saint-Zéphirin established at Saint-Zéphirin
The parish of Saint-Zéphirin-de-Courval was canonically constituted in 1828, but a first wooden chapel-church according to plans by the famous architect Thomas Baillairgé was not erected until around 1843.
1845 - Church built at St-Zéphirin-de-Courval
In 1847, following the famine in Ireland, a group of Irish settlers landed here.
1855 - St-Zéphirin-de-Courval incorporated
The civil constitution of the parish municipality of Saint-Zéphirin-de-Courval takes place in 1855. A new church replaces the chapel-church of 1845, in 1871, but it is demolished in 1900 because of the deficiencies of its foundations and by later a new parish church was built in 1903.

ST. ZEPHIRIN, a post village in Yamaska co., Que., 21 miles from St. Francis. It contains 4 stores and several mills. Pop. 400.
The original church being too small, a second church was constructed at St-Zéphirin-de-Courval in 1874.
Saint-Zéphirin de Courval was originally a much larger territory, but the parish had to cede part of its territory for the creation or expansion of new parishes:
Saint-Elphège, in 1886; The Visitation-de-Yamaska, in 1898; Saint-Joachim, in 1901 and part of Sainte-Brigitte.

1895 - Saint Zephirin
Saint Zéphirin, sān Zá'fe'ráNo', a post-village in Yamaska co., Quebec, 21 miles E. of St. François du Lac. Pop. 400.
On October 30, 1900, the second church at St-Zéphirin-de-Courval was condemned.
1903 - Third church at St-Zéphirin-de-Courval built.
This church was also demolished, because it was undermined by the deficiencies of its foundations and a third church was erected in 1950. This time, on August 7, 1952, it burned. The present church was blessed in 1956 and it stands firm.
1906
Saint Zephirin, a post-village of Yamaska co., Quebec, 21 miles E. of St. Francois du Lac. Pop. 200.
1952 - Fourth church at St-Zéphirin-de-Courval built.
As construction progressed, a fire devastated the building site and destroyed the new construction which had not yet been used.
The fifth church at St-Zéphirin-de-Courval was inaugurated on September 16, 1956.
