Old age caused the death at 9 o'clock Monday evening of Preserved S. Waite at his home on Asylum avenue. Mr. Waite had not been seriously ill, but for some time had been gradually fading away as the result of his advanced age, 86 years. Mr. Waite was born in Saratoga county, New York, in 1818. In 1837 he came to Michigan and settled on a farm about three miles south of Kalamazoo and had since made his home in Kalamazoo county. In 1884 he decided to live in the city and moved to his home on Asylum avenue, where he died. He was married in May 1847, to Mary E. Fitch, who died in this city about two years ago. When Mr. Waite came to Kalamazoo the country was newly settled and he will be remembered by many of the older residents of the city as one of the pioneer farmers of the county. He was a man of influential character and had a large circle of friends throughout the entire southern section of Michigan. Mr.
