Anita's mother died at her birth. She went to live with her Pelletier grandmother and stayed with her for four years until her father remaried. According to her granddaughter, Anita Noiseux, she was not happy there. Her grandmother was very strict and made her go to bed at seven o'clock every night.
At Anita's baptism, her Godfather was Jean Anthime Roy, notary and her Godmother was Hermine Casault, wife of Elzéar Pelletier. The priest was F.X.L. Blais, parish priest.
