Biography
DUPUIS - several origins: alteration of the agglutination of 'du Puits', derived from 'le Puits', the name of several localities in France. Or, de Puy, from the Latin 'podium' which means 'base' and represents a rocky height of volcanic origin. Or also, nickname given to the one whose house has or is close to a communal well.

Michel Dupuis-Dupuy was born around 1637. He married Marie Gautrot-Gautreau (28 years old), daughter of François Gautrot, and widow of a certain Potet, around 1664 in Acadie (Nova Scotia).
