Around 1720, Etienne and Madeleine moved to Saint-Francois-de-Sales, Ile-Jesus, to live with their son, Etienne. 'It was there that Etienne Charles, senior, was interred on 16 May 1724... Eight years later, on the same spot, on 16 August 1732, his wife earned her well-deserved rest, and was buried beside her husband.'
