The sad and unexpected announcement of the sudden death of Lucian Marcy, who died yesterday of heart disease, has caused much sorrow in this town. Mr. Marcy was 58 years of age, the son of Hon. Jedediah Marcy and nephew of the late Gov. Wm. L. Marcy. He leaves a widow and an adopted daughter. Mr. Marcy has filled and has been repeatedly called to fill various offices, among them assessor, selectman and representative to the legislature, and has performed the duties faithfully and honestly. He was one of the substantial men of the town, whose influence was in favor of good order, economy in the administration of public affairs, but was ready to support all deserving public improvements. Mr. Marcy was educated a democrat, and acted with the party a few years after his majority, but of late years has acted with the republican party, enjoying their fullest confidence.
