Marguerite CHEVALIER dite LAVOINE was the child of Jean-Baptiste CHEVALIER   and   Françoise ALAVOINE and the grandchild of: (paternal)  Joseph CHEVALIER and Francoise-Marthe BARTON (maternal)  Charles ALAVOINE and Therese MARCHAND

Marguerite  married  Pierre GRIGNON 17 July 1738 in Mackinac Island, French Settlement (now Michigan) .  The couple had (at least) 5 children.
Pierre GRIGNON  was born 9 August 1709 in Grondines, Québec, Canada (Saint-Charles-des-Grondines).  Pierre died 21 May 1766 in Louiseville, Québec, Canada (Saint-Antoine-de-la-Rivière-du-Loup).  Pierre was the child of Jacques GRIGNON and Marie-Thérèse RICHER dite LAFLECHE.

Marguerite  married  (2) Jacques LESAGE 29 August 1768 in Berthierville, Province of Québec, Canada .  Jacques LESAGE  was born 23 August 1732 in Louiseville, Québec, Canada (Saint-Antoine-de-la-Rivière-du-Loup).  Jacques died 15 July 1782 in Berthierville, Québec, Canada (Berthier-en-Haut) (Ste-Genevieve-de-Berthier).  Jacques was the child of Jean-Baptiste LESAGE and Marie-Josephe GERLAISE.

Marguerite CHEVALIER dite LAVOINE died 25 April 1801 in La Visitation-de-l'Île-Dupas, Lower Canada .

Did You Know? Québec Généalogie - What is a 'dit/dite' name?  When the first settlers came to Québec from France it was a custom to add a 'dit' nickname to the surname. The English translation of 'dit' is 'said'. The Colonists of Nouvelle France added 'dit' names as distinguishers. A settler might have wanted to differentiate their family from their siblings by taking a 'dit' name that described the locale to which they had relocated. The acquiring of a 'dit' name might also be the result of a casual adoption, whereby the person wanted to honor the family who had raised them. Another reason was also to distinguish themselves by taking as a 'dit' name the town or village in France from which they originated. This custom ended around 1900 when people began using only one name, either the 'dit' nickname or their original surname.
