Mr. David Evans was probably the oldest man to pioneer in a large area. He was born in Ireland, coming to Canada as a boy of twelve years old. He was taken in by an uncle in Ontario, as both parents died at sea on the voyage to Canada. He married Mary Jane Whiteford and raised a family of six children.

Death certificate lists year of birth as 1828 as well as his head stone. All census records list birth as about 1838
