Wednesday night while returning from his duties at Elizabeth Mill, Harry Baker met with a painful accident. It has been his custom of late in order to save time to scale a picket fence and make a cross cut to his home and Wednesday he took the same course. He either lost his footing or stumbled over the top of the fence and it was precipitated heavily to the ground. Dr. Ballou found that his arm was broken in two places. Dr. Ballou stated that it was a very bad fracture, as both bones of the forearm were broken, one near the wrist and the other near the elbow.

Harry Baker of Warwick entered suit in the Superior Court yesterday afternoon against Frank Dixon, alleging that he was assaulted by the defendant with a blunt instrument on June 10 and badly injured. Damages are laid at $5000. Fitgerald & Higgins are counsel for the plaintiff.

Mrs. Ira Bates, 35 Cottage street, Hillsgove, complained to Warwick police last night that her infant son was bitten by a dog owned by Harry Baker, 145 Cottage street, Hillsgrove. The boy was treated by Dr. Raymond Luft.

Albert Bates, Jr., 4, of 35 Cottage street was bitten severely by a neighbor's dog yesterday while playing near his home. He was treated for lacerations to the left leg by Dr. Raymond Luft at the Warwick health department.

Dog oggicer Edgar Luther, acting upon the complaint, ordered the dog, owned by Harry Baker, 61 Cottage street, tied up for a 10-day period for observation.

...A similar explosion occurred at 5:20 p.m. in the baement of a 2 1/ 2 story, 3-tenement house owned by Harry Baker at 145 Cottage Street, Hillsgrove. The flooded burner exploded and burning oil shot across the joists of the first floor and up inside an exterior wall.

The joists were charred extensively, but firemen said that they had not been weakened to any great degree. A smoldering fire within the partition caused firemen to remain on the job for 90 minutes, feeding water to the hidden blaze with a pressure spray nozzle. Damage was listed at $300 by firemen, although estimation of the damage within the partition is subject to revision. The fire was extinguished by the Greenwood and Apponaug Fire Companies...

Harry Baker

Harry Baker, 72, of 145 Cottage St., Hillsgrove, died yesterday at Rhode Island Hospital after suffering a heart attack at his home on Tuesday night.

The husband of Leah (McDermott) Baker, he had been a resident of Hillsgrove for more than 60 years.

Born in Sutton, Mass., he was the son of the late John and Jane (Davis) Baker. He had retired last April after having been employed for 15 years as a stock clerk at the Quonset Naval Air Station. He had previously been employed as a maintenance man at the State house.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. David Matthews of Plattsburg, N.Y.; a son, John Baker of Warwick; a foster son, Joseph Jaries of Warwick; seven grandchildren; a

Brother: Charles Baker of Providence.

The funeral will be held at 8 a.m. Saturday from the Raoul G. Henault Funeral Home, with a requiem Mass at St. Francis Church, Hillsgrove, at 9 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary's

The funeral of Harry Baker, 72, of 145 Cottage St., Hillsgrove, was held yesterday from the Raoul G. Henault Funeral Home, 5 Eddy St., West Warwick, with a requiem Mass in St. Francis Church, Hillsgrove.

The Rev. R. E. Roberge, pastor, conducted the ceremony. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery, Crompton, where the Rev. Gerard Bernard, curate, read the committal service.

Bearers were Raymond Plante, Earl Plante, Adolph and Earl Schenck, all nephews of the deceased; Joseph Garies, a foster son, and Charles Jubinville. Mr. Baker, husband of Lea (McDermott) Baker, died Wednesday.
