According to PRDH, a marriage contract was signed between Andre Bergeron and Marguerite Dumais at an undetermined place in Quebec, Canada in 1673.
"In New France there was a worthy family who had lived in the Colony since 1654, that of Jean Dumets or Demers and of Jeanne Voidy. The head of the family was a native of Saint-Jacques de Dieppe in Normandy; the wife, from Saint-Germain-du-Val, in Anjou. Their eldest daughter, Marguerite, was baptized on 21 October 1659. Gilbert Barbier and Barbe Poisson held her at the baptismal font of Ville-Marie."
"The Demers were living in the seigneurie of Lauzon at that time. Andre met Marguerite and spoke to her of marriage. On Thursday, 9 July 1673, relatives and friends of the Bergeron and Demers families went to Quebec, to the house of Jean-Paul Maheu. The notary Rageot, summoned for the occasion, drew up the marriage contract... The nuptial blessing was given a few days later, by a traveling missionary. Alas! this act has been lost for ever."

'The ancestress Marguerite, 'lying ill for three months', had her will drawn up on 4 August 1720. Nicolas and Joseph Bergeron would become the heirs to the family property, on the condition that they pay the debts, bury their mother honorably, and have 30 masses said after her death. Marguerite was still alive in September 1722. Then, there is silence concerning one of the venerable female founders of our country.'
