NewsThe War of 1812 was a conflict between the United States and Great Britain, lasting from 1812 to 1815. It was primarily fueled by issues such as trade restrictions due to Britain's ongoing war with France, impressment of American sailors into the British Navy, and British support of Native American tribes against American expansion. The war ended with the Treaty of Ghent, restoring pre-war boundaries but resolving few of the initial disputes.

Obituary
WOOLWORTH.--Jasper Woolworth died in Lorraine, October 8, 1873, aged 84 years. Father Woolworth was born at Greenville, Massachusetts. He removed to Northern New York, in early life. In the War of 1812, he bravely bore arms in the defense of his country. When about forty years of age he was converted to God at Copenhagen. In after life he was identified with the Methodist Episcopal Church at Copenhagen, Watertown and Rodman, as he resided at these respective places. He was thoroughly a good man; strictly honest and upright in character. The religious habits formed in his early Christian life, marked his course to the end. Our fathers are rapidly disappearing from our midst. May their mantles fall upon the shoulders of their children.
