Died In this city on Thursday, July 16, 1851, Doct. George W. Salisbury, formerly from Valparaiso, IN.
The deceased had been long afflicted with a disease which was considered incurable by himself and friends. He had but just returned from the Sandwich Islands, where he had been with the hope that a change of climate might at least prolong his stay upon earth.
Doctor Salisbury was a member of the I.O. of O.F. and belonged to "Chegnonk" Lodge No. 56, at Valparaiso, IN. He was buried by the members of that order agreeable to their ceremonies. Her mother died soon after coming to Hudson, when Mary was 6. Married Jas King who died Feb 13, 1892. May 3, 1896 she married Chas Cook. He survives as do 2 bros, Albert Salisbury, of Peoria, Ill. & Jas Salisbury, of this city. (Death date was Dec 26, 1898.)

Mary Jane Salisbury

Mary Jane Salisbury was born in Scipio, Cayuga county, New York, August 20, 1833, ande dided at her home in Adams, Mich., Dec. 26, 1898. While in infancy she came with her parents to Adrian, Mich., and later moved to the vicinity of Hudson. At the early age of six years, she was bereft of a mother's tender love and when she was but eleven years old her father was called from earth, and she then went to Valparaiso, Ind., for one year, returning at the end of that time to Michigan in which state she has since resided. At the age of twenty years she began teaching school, which occuptaion she followed for eight years, being then married to James King Sept 11, 1861, with whom she lived for thirty years, her husband dying in February 1892. Two children, a nephew and a niece of Mr. King, were brought up in this home viz. James King, Jr., of Osseo, and Mrs. Eva Berger, of Adams, and although they both have families and have long resided in homes of their own, yet 'aunt ...Read full story
