An Unpleasant Braggart
'Pierre Roy, husband of Catherine Ducharme since 12 January 1672, the father of seven children and the former servant of Jacques Leber, contracted 'an inflammation of the heart' in 1683. He was living on the Ile Jesus where he met a 23 year old married woman, one Marie-Barbe Theodore dit Masson. She caused his temperature to rise due to his, not her amourous urges. This woman, as virtuous as she was beautiful, resisted without surrendering to his untimely pursuit. The unfortunate husband was desperate, and on 20 June, after the Sunday Mass at Lachenaie, stated before the assembly that he would kill 'the said Plaintiff with a gun...''

Therese Huneault dit Deschamps, married to Guillaume Leclerc, and mother of infants, according to her record of burial, was 'killed cruelly in her barn by Iroquois, at La Chenaye, on August 7, 1689,' three days after the terrible massacre at Lachine.
