Obituary
J. Herbert Galbraith, 87, one of the early pioneers and farmers of the Lyman area, died Thursday morning, July 1, 1971 following a year’s illness.
He was born April 4, 1884 in Lyman, the son of Ann Sharp and Edward A. Galbraith. His parents were one of the first four families in that area. He was the second boy born in the region. He lived in Lyman all his life and attended school in Lyman and also attended Ricks Academy in Rexburg.
He was married to Ida Mae Barber, Sept. 9, 1913 at St. Anthony, Idaho; this marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on Jan. 12, 1916.
He was a member of the LDS Church and was a high priest at the time of his death. He had served in the Sunday School and the Mutual Improvement Organization. As a boy, he herded sheep but most of his life was spent in farming in the Lyman area. For three years during World War II he worked as a pipe fitter in the ship yards in Tacoma, Washington re-fitting ships for the war use.
