Thomas Rousseau was born around 1631 in Oroux, Poitou (Deux-Sèvres). Son of Honoré Rousseau and Marie Boillerot, he married Marie-Madeleine Olivier, daughter of Jean Olivier and Louise Prévost, on October 5, 1667 in Quebec. Eleven children were born from their union. A widower, he married in second marriage, Charlotte Bélanger, widow of Jean Langlois, on July 4, 1691 in Saint-Pierre de l'Île d'Orléans. They have a child together. He was in New France in 1664. He settled on the Île d'Orléans. In 1681, he owned land in Saint-Laurent de l'Île d'Orléans with 15 arpents under cultivation, as well as 1 rifle and 4 horned animals. He died after July 26, 1716.
