The parish municipality of Saint-Pierre-de-la-Rivière-du-Sud is part of the administrative region of Chaudière-Appalaches and is located in the Regional County Municipality of Montmagny. Civilly constituted on July 1, 1855, it covers an area of approximately 91 square kilometers.

The Rivière du Sud, which gave its name, in part, to this municipality of the Côte-du-Sud, in the Montmagny region, contributes to the fertility of the land in the northern part of the territory. The Morigeau and Poitras rivers and the Blague stream are the main elements of the hydrographic network of this entity located between Montmagny and Saint-François-de-la-Rivière-du-Sud.

Saint-Pierre-de-la-Rivière-du-Sud is a 10-minute drive from the municipality and Montmagny is a 20-minute drive from Lévis and 40 minutes from Quebec City.

Early settlement
During 1696, a certain Lecolombier settled in the territory, but only stayed there for a very short time. It was especially at the beginning of the 18th century that the colonization of the place took place with the construction of a chapel in 1713 north of the Rivière du Sud, thanks to the gift of land by Pierre Blanchet made in 1709 and whose generosity will be extended by his widow, Marianne Fournier (1713) and her son Jean in 1716 who will give substantial donations.

1722 - Église de Saint-Pierre-du-Sud established at Saint-Pierre-du-Sud
A priest settled in these places from 1751, the year of the laying of the first stone of the Church. The recognition of the pioneers could not be better expressed than by placing the parish, whose limits were fixed in 1722 and which was canonically erected in 1848, under the protection of Saint Peter in honor of Pierre Blanchet.
