Josephte FAVREAU dite DESLAURIERS  was born abt. 1788 in Québec Province, Canada (Quebec).  Josephte died 27 March 1813 in Verchères, Québec, Canada (Saint-François-Xavier-de-Vercheres).  Josephte was the child of Urbain FAVREAU dit DESLAURIERS and Marie-Amable CREVIER dite DUVERNAY.

Jean-Baptiste  married  (2) Theotiste MENARD dite CARIGNAN 11 October 1813 in Verchères, Lower Canada .  The couple had (at least) 1 child.
Theotiste MENARD dite CARIGNAN  was born December 27, 1791 in Chambly, Québec, Canada (Saint-Joseph-de-Chambly).  Theotiste died abt. 1829 in Québec Province, Canada (Quebec). 

Jean-Baptiste  married  (3) Marie-Charlotte MARTIN 12 May 1834 in Saint-Damase, Saint-Hyacinthe, Lower Canada .  Marie-Charlotte MARTIN  was born 7 June 1800 in Saint-Hyacinthe, Québec, Canada (Notre-Dame-du-Rosaire, Saint-Hyacinthe-le-Confesseur).  Marie-Charlotte died 4 October 1879 in Saint-Damase, Saint-Hyacinthe, Québec, Canada .  Marie-Charlotte was the child of Joseph MARTIN and Marie-Charlotte TETRO (TETREAULT) dite DEMURANTS.

Did You Know? Québec Généalogie - What is a 'dit/dite' name?  When the first settlers came to Québec from France it was a custom to add a 'dit' nickname to the surname. The English translation of 'dit' is 'said'. The Colonists of Nouvelle France added 'dit' names as distinguishers. A settler might have wanted to differentiate their family from their siblings by taking a 'dit' name that described the locale to which they had relocated. The acquiring of a 'dit' name might also be the result of a casual adoption, whereby the person wanted to honor the family who had raised them. Another reason was also to distinguish themselves by taking as a 'dit' name the town or village in France from which they originated. This custom ended around 1900 when people began using only one name, either the 'dit' nickname or their original surname.
