Well Known Southbridge Resident Dies After Short Illness
SOUTHBRIDGE, Feb. 19. - Louis Peloquin, 72, one of the prominent French speaking citizens of the town died this morning at his home, 27 Coombs street, following a short illness from pneumonia. He was born in Sorell, P.Q., the son of Peter and Adelaine Dauphinais Peloquin. He has been a resident of this town practically all his life.
Mr. Peloquin was a member of Notre Deame church, and was one of the founders of Cercle Canadian. He was also a member of L'Union St. Jean Baptiste, Nipmuck Tribe, I.O.R.M., Southbridge Aerie, F.O.E., and the Catholic Order of Foresters.
He was one of the oldest members of the Southbridge Fire department, being connected with the company for more than 25 years, and was captain of Hook and Ladder Co. No. 1 for many years. For 30 years he was employed at the plant of the American Optical Co., retiring some time ago.
