Biography
Henry James, born on April 15, 1843, in New York City, was an American author who became one of the most influential figures in the world of 19th-century literature. He came from a prominent and intellectually inclined family. His father, Henry James Sr., was a philosopher and theologian, and his older brother, William James, was a renowned psychologist and philosopher.

James spent much of his childhood in Europe, particularly in Switzerland, France, and England, as his family moved frequently. This exposure to different cultures and societies had a profound impact on his later work, influencing his nuanced understanding of human behavior and social dynamics.

In 1862, James returned to the United States and briefly attended Harvard Law School. However, his true passion lay in literature, and he soon abandoned legal studies to pursue a career as a writer. His first short story, 'The Story of the Year,' was published in The Atlantic Monthly in 1865.
