HOOSIOK FALLS, N.Y. - Miss Linda Ann Bedard, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William P. Bedard of 6 Beckett St. will be married today to Charles A. Simonelli, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles J. Simonelli of 27 Greenway St., Pittsfield, -Mass.

The Rev. J. J. Ammering will officiate at the noon ceremony in Immaculate Conception Church. A reception will follow at the Three Way Restaurant, North Petersburg.

The bride will wear a faille, gown trimmed with lace. A pearl circlet will hold her veil and she will carry stephanotis, roses and ivy.

Mrs. John Warren will be matron of honor. Miss Donna Gallagher, Mrs. Robert Lane and Miss Angle Roberto will be bridesmaids. Miss Jill Wysocki will be junior bridesmaid. They will wear pink crepe gowns and will carry carnations, daisies, stephanotis and ivy.

Anthony J. Simonelli will be best man for his brother. Shawn Broderick, Gregory Bedard, brother of the bride, William Smith and Jay Wysocki will usher.

After a trip to Florida the couple will live at 312 South St., Pittsfield.

1953 - On July 27, 1953, the Korean War ended with the signing of an armistice agreement at Panmunjom. This ceasefire halted the conflict between North Korea, supported by China and the Soviet Union, and South Korea, backed by United Nations forces primarily from the United States. The agreement established the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) near the 38th parallel, effectively maintaining the pre-war boundary and creating a buffer zone between the two Koreas.

1961 - Vietnam War officially begins with 900 military advisors landing in Saigon.

1962 - The Cuban Missile Crisis was a tense 13-day standoff in October 1962 between the United States and the Soviet Union over the installation of Soviet nuclear missiles in Cuba, just 90 miles from the U.S. coast. The crisis is considered the closest the Cold War came to escalating into a full-scale nuclear war. It began when American spy planes discovered the missiles, leading to a U.S. naval blockade of Cuba and intense negotiations. The crisis ended when Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev agreed to remove the missiles in exchange for the U.S. promising not to invade Cuba and secretly agreeing to remove American missiles from Turkey.

Johnson was sworn in as the 36th President of the United States shortly after Kennedy's death. The assassination sparked numerous conspiracy theories and investigations, with the Warren Commission ultimately concluding that Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone in the assassination. Obituary

Charles Anthony Simonelli, 72 of Pittsfield, MA, passed away October 21, 2019 at Berkshire Medical Center.

Born in Pittsfield on January 18, 1947, he was a son of Charles and Evelyn Fraley Simonelli. A graduate of Pittsfield High School, he went on to join the US Air Force, where he was a Sergeant during Viet Nam.

Mr. Simonelli worked at the Berkshire County House of Corrections, then became a police officer in West Stockbridge. He also worked Security at Berkshire Medical Center and then went back to Berkshire County House of Corrections for a second time, from which he retired in 2015.

He leaves behind his daughter, Andrea Simonelli of Pittsfield; son, Todd Simonelli of Pittsfield; brother, Anthony Simonelli of Pittsfield; his partner, Mary Beth Street of Pittsfield; as well as his niece and nephew.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Berkshire Humane Society in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54
