The honoree, daughter of Mrs. Bessie Kolb of the Johnson City address, will be married July 16 to Wilfred B, Andrews of Westover.

Cohostesses at the party were Miss Eleanor Hopkins and Miss Vera Whipple.

Twenty friends attended the party. Gifts were presented in treasure-hunt fashion.

Ellen K. Andrews, 103, formerly of Afton and Johnson City, died on July 14, 2005 in Lake Worth, Florida. She was the last surviving child of George and Bessie Kolb. She was married to Wilfred Andrews predeceased her in 1978. She is survived by her two step-daughters, June and Robert Purtell, Betty Lou and Frank Sanzo, all of Florida; nieces, Grace Clark, Johnson City, Clara Fenstemacher, California, Marie Kolb, Johnson City; nephews, Karl and Nancy Brigham, Apalachin, Ivan and Judlthann Kolb, Binghamton; 14 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren. She was a 2nd grade school teacher, starting in 1922 in a one room schoolhouse, and also taught at Westover for 14 years and George W. Johnson until she retired in 1959. She was an avid golfer who loved to travel.

A funeral and committal services will be held on Monday at 11:30 a.m. at the Barber Memorial Home, Inc., 428 Main Street, Johnson City. The Rev. Margaret Chauncey will officiate. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park....Read MORE...
