Invention The microwave oven was invented accidentally in 1945 by Percy Spencer, a Raytheon engineer. While testing a magnetron, he noticed microwaves melted a candy bar in his pocket. Experimenting further, he discovered microwaves could cook food quickly. Raytheon patented the process, and by 1947, they built the first commercial microwave oven, called the 'Radarange.' Initially used in commercial settings, microwaves becomes affordable for home use by the 1960s and 1970s, revolutionizing cooking.

The first commercial cell phone was released in 1983, revolutionizing communication and leading to the modern smartphones we use today.

CRAWFORD Charles P. of Fitzwilliam, N.H.. died in Keene, N.H. on Thursday evening after a sudden illness. Former resident of Needham. Beloved husband of Ruth F Blessing) Crawford of Fitzwilliam. Father of Mrs. Nancy Furdon of Franklin, Mass.. Robert C. Crawford of Marshfield and David Crawford of Franklin. Brother of George Crawford of Needham. Austin Crawford. Annie Floden and Margaret Barteaux, all of Nova Scotia and Muriel Graves of Needham; also survived by ten grandchildren and one great-grandson. Funeral services will be held in the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court St., KEENE. N.H. on Monday morning at 1 1 a m Cremation will follow in Concord, N.H. Friends may call at the Funeral Home on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
