Henry D. Rogers, an old citizen of Galesburg, died yesterday of malarial fever.

Henry D. Rogers, the once devoted philanthropist and christian gentleman, was horn in the town of Hope, N. Y., on the 19th of April, 1812, At the age of six years he accompanied his parents to Cambria, N. Y., where they found primitive forests, and in that early day, while that country was in its infancy, the opportunities for acquiring mental culture were very limited and unsatisfactory to the progressive mind. During his early education be walked through dense forests, three miles, where he packed his mind with the first rudiments of learning, and through those great embarrassments, by a careful and untiring application, at the age of eighteen years he entered upon the duties of teacher; and with grand success he devoted many years of his choice life to that high calling. In the year of 1834 he entered into the stream of immigration and journeyed to the wilds
