"PIERRE AND CHARLOTTE EXCHANGED VOWS IN THE NEWLY CONSTRUCTED CHURCH OF SAINTE-ANNE-DE-BEAUPRE ON 27 JULY 1679... AT THE TIME OF HIS MARRIAGE TO THE WIDOW FRECHET, PIERRE POSSESSED A CONSIDERABLE LAND GRANT IN THE CHARLEVOIX. NEVERTHELESS, IN ORDER TO PROTECT THE RIGHTS OF THE FRECHET ORPHANS, CHARLOTTE WAS REQUIRED BY LAW TO CONDUCT AN INVENTORY OF THE ASSETS LEFT BY HER FIRST HUSBAND."
