Marie-Thérèse MASSÉ dite SANCERRE  was born 12 May 1710 in Chambly, Québec, Canada (Saint-Joseph-de-Chambly).  Marie-Thérèse died 22 August 1746 in Chambly, Québec, Canada (Saint-Joseph-de-Chambly).  Marie-Thérèse was the child of Jean-Baptiste MASSÉ dit SANCERRE and Marie BEAUDET.

Denis  married  (2) Marie-Anne-Catherine DUBOIS 27 October 1749 in Chambly, Canada, New France .  Marie-Anne-Catherine DUBOIS  was born 17 April 1701 in Saint-Laurent-de-l'Île-d'Orléans, Québec, Canada.  Marie-Anne-Catherine died 17 April 1757 in Chambly, Québec, Canada (Saint-Joseph-de-Chambly).  Marie-Anne-Catherine was the child of Clément DUBOIS and Catherine LABRECQUE.

Denis  married  (3) Marie-Louise MAILLOT dite LAROCHE 9 January 1758 in Chambly, Canada, New France .  Marie-Louise MAILLOT dite LAROCHE  was born abt. 1705 in Québec Province, Canada (Quebec).  Marie-Louise died 1 November 1793 in Chambly, Québec, Canada (Saint-Joseph-de-Chambly).  Marie-Louise was the child of Jean MAILLOT dit LAROCHE and Marie-Françoise COURAULT dite COULON.

Did You Know? Québec Généalogie - What is a 'dit/dite' name?  When the first settlers came to Québec from France it was a custom to add a 'dit' nickname to the surname. The English translation of 'dit' is 'said'. The Colonists of Nouvelle France added 'dit' names as distinguishers. A settler might have wanted to differentiate their family from their siblings by taking a 'dit' name that described the locale to which they had relocated. The acquiring of a 'dit' name might also be the result of a casual adoption, whereby the person wanted to honor the family who had raised them. Another reason was also to distinguish themselves by taking as a 'dit' name the town or village in France from which they originated. This custom ended around 1900 when people began using only one name, either the 'dit' nickname or their original surname.
