Alta Mae BROWN died 9 July 1976 in Pasadena, California, USA.

On 5 Sept.1925, Alta married Lyle Morehous, whom she had known since childhood. They had one son, Eugene Lyle Morehous (b.07 April 1929 in Ventura county, CA. Eugene d.5 March 1969 in Ventura County, CA). Alta and Lyle lived with, and lovingly cared for, her elderly mother, Ida May Gardner Brown, at 59 South Allen Ave., Pasadena, CA. It was a small 2 bedroom house, in poor condition, when the newly widowed Ida May Brown purchased it. Ida May and her four children (Alta, twins Ray and Roy, and Earl) lived there for decades. Eventually, Lyle and Alta built a house for themselves behind Ida May's home. Alta's and Lyle's home replaced Grandma's (Ida May's) older smaller home as the gathering place for the extended Brown family. Each January 1st the Brown family would gather there for coffee, hot tea, cocoa, and breakfast before walking a few hundred feet to Colorado Blvd. where we would sit on wooden boards suspended between two ladders to watch the famous Rose Parade pass by. We would then return to 59 So. Allen to enjoy a family dinner prepared by Alta and Lyle. Even after Ida May died, the Browns gathered at Lyle and Alta's for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and other important family occasions. After Alta died, Lyle continued to host all of us at his house for family gatherings.
