Robert CARON — (ca 1603 - 1656)

French-Canadian pioneer Robert Caron passed away this day, July 8th, 1656, at Hôtel-Dieu de Québec. Robert and wife Marie Crevet had seven children—the last, Aimée, was born around the time of Robert's early death.

Their eldest child (Marie) was killed in 1660 after being abducted by a group of Hurons 'masquerading as Iroquois' ... 'renegades in quest of plunder.' Marie's only child, the infant Louise Picard, was part of the group carried off in the raid but survived and later had many children with husbands Louis Gagné and Guillaume Lemieux.

Robert and Marie have a great number of descendants: Francogene estimates the figure at possibly over five million in Quebec alone. They are ancestors of many notable people: Justin Bieber, Jim Carrey, Céline Dion, Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, Jon Favreau, Ryan Gosling, Madonna and Denis Villeneuve, to name a few.

Biography
Robert Caron arrived on the Cote de Beaupre about 1636. He married Marie Crevet in 1637 and the couple were settlers and left seven children. Marie was captured by the Hurons on June 4th, 1660.
