1645 - First religious service held in Beauport
The first known mention of a religious service in Beauport was in 1645 in the manor house of Robert Giffard. Early historians say that a part of the mansion was transformed into a chapel. We also know that celebrations were held at other residents of Beauport.

1662 - Church built in Beauport
The first place of worship in Beauport dates back to 1662 according to the records of the parish of Notre-Dame-de-Québec: a wooden chapel! The documents are silent on the location of the chapel. It may have been built on the land which was sold in 1676 by Joseph Giffard and his tenants, for the erection of a church.

1832 - BEAUPORT,
seigniory, in the co. of Quebec, bounded N.E. by the Cote de Beaupre, S.W. by Notre Dame des Anges, in front by the St. Lawrence and in the rear by the township of Stoneham. It is one league broad by four leagues deep. It was granted, Dec. 31, 1635, to Robert Giffard, Sieur de Beauport; but by that concession its depth was limited to 1 1/ 2 league; on the 31st Mar. 1653, the other 2 1/ 2 leagues were added: it is now the property of Narcisse Duchesnay, Esq. The original concessions in this seigniory were granted prior to 1759, and each farm, extending 3 arpents in front by 30, 40, or 50 in depth, pays a quit rent of 40 sols and one capon for each front arpent...

BEAUPORT, a post village and parish in Quebec co., Que., on the north shore of the St. Lawrence, 2 miles from Quebec. It contains several large flour and barley mills, nail and match factories, and has an extensive lumber trade. The Beauport Lunatic Asylum is located in the parish. Pop. 1,053.

The cure of Beauport, Quebec, has been surprised by the receipt of a reprimand from Archbishop Taschereau for taking an active part in an election canvass, and a peremptory order to obtain hereafter from political action.

The Roman Catholic church at Beauport, Quebec, valued at $300,000 was burned today. This was the church to which the celebrated Father Chinquy was attached previous to his apostacy.

Beauport, Qué, Borough, pop 74 881 (2006c), 72 813 (2001c). Beauport is Québec City's most eastern borough and is located where the Beauport and Montmorency rivers flow into the St Lawrence River. At the mouth of Rivière Montmorency is Montmorency Falls.

During the 19th century Beauport's proximity to Québec City allowed industry to develop. The economy diversified from its agricultural base to the manufacture of a variety of wood products.
In 1845 Beauport was recognized as a municipality. By the end of the century the population had quadrupled and the farmland was slowly urbanized. This urbanization led to the breakup of Beauport into 7 different municipalities including Giffard, Villeneuve and Montmorency.
