He was hired by Peter Grace to remove his race horses, cattle and art collection from Cuba in 1940 before the communist could claim all property as government owned. He succeeded in his efforts. The Cuban government attempted to have him arrested for stealing government owned property, but were unsuccessful. The livestock, horses and art were removed prior to the Cuban government having accomplished their take over.
