Biography
DUGUAY - nickname given to the person originating from a place called (Le) Guay, the name of several localities in France. Jean-Marie Duguay was born around 1742 in Bayonne, Pyrénées-Atlantique, France. Son of René Duguay and Marguerite Breton, he married Marie-Anne Tareau-Champagne, daughter of René-Olivier and Marie-Agathe Laine-Laliberté, on October 17, 1768 in Quebec. From this union were born 11 children. He arrives in the country with his parents. The exact date is unknown, but we find him in Pabos as early as 1751. He later settled in Paspébiac where he died on December 24, 1810. The date of his burial is unknown.
