Like so many other villages around the world, Saint Bonaventure developed near water. The "Rivière-aux-Vaches", coming from Saint-Majorique, crosses the municipality and continues its course towards Saint-Pie-de-Guire and Saint-François-du-Lac. This river is truly responsible for the development of the first community of settlers... saint-bonaventure.ca

If the humble and old houses of the settlers resisted it as best they could, the tornado of July 25, 1975 unfortunately resulted in the loss of human lives and mourned, suddenly, the inhabitants of Saint-Bonaventure and the surrounding area. After this tragedy, the entire population, both in the ranks and in the village, will respond to the destructive and murderous anger of the winds by rebuilding houses, barns and stores, and this with the same fierce determination that the elders had shown when founding parish.
