Invention The microwave oven was invented accidentally in 1945 by Percy Spencer, a Raytheon engineer. While testing a magnetron, he noticed microwaves melted a candy bar in his pocket. Experimenting further, he discovered microwaves could cook food quickly. Raytheon patented the process, and by 1947, they built the first commercial microwave oven, called the 'Radarange.' Schlageter, Andrew Bruce

Brockport: Died peacefully on Monday November 21, 2011. Predeceased by his wife Grace, grandson Stephen Dahlheim and parents Andrew and Grace Schlageter. He is survived by his daughters Ann (James) Dahlheim, Kit Schlageter (Fred Porter), and Elizabeth (Scott) Banner; grandchildren Andrew, Jesse and Kate Porter, James and Samuel Dahlheim and William Banner;
Sister: Janice Northrup;
Brother: s Noel (Grace) Schlageter and David (Cris) Schlageter; many nieces and nephews.

There will be no prior calling hours. A memorial service will be held 10:30 am Saturday November 26, 2011 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Brockport. Burial immediately following at Lakeview Cemetery and a reception at the Alumni House at the College at Brockport. Those wishing may contribute to SUNY Brockport Alumni Association. Please visit www.fowlerfuneralhomeinc.com to light a candle in Bruce's memory.
